HEALTH MART OPERATIONS – 2010-2015
I Went Full Nerd.
In 2010, I wound up as a project manager for a division of McKesson Pharmaceuticals. It started as a temporary thing – they just needed a project manager for 6-8 weeks so someone could organize this massive binder into an informational portal – specifically because everything in the binder needed to be updated, polished, looked over by legal and branding and then put online.
I had just been trained on project management at ABC.com and at Disney Interactive – both by my friend and mentor, Dex. He walked me through all of the formalities of agile, scrum, lean ux and waterfall so that with all my production, design and content stuff… I could run the whole set up!! (Or just avoid the worst possible way to build a website due to how business / PM people who don’t actually understand the production or product, itself, tend to go all-in on some methodology instead of seeing what works best for the group/team – which is why I wanted these skills. To enact revenge in only the way that I know how – making sure no one else has to deal with the same level of bullshit ever again. If you’re going to plan shit, might as well set it up so others can just use a better system all in all. But technically I had been doing project management and business analyst stuff since Comedy Central and CBS due to needing to justify projects’ values so I still had work.)

My project for Health Mart Operations ended early because PM work is super easy, so I offered to build a few prototypes and samples because I knew the need to do research into how that works on their system as part of the UX research and design planning that ties right into design/functional QA at the end might save them a lot of time. I made sure that there were at least a few stable pages and examples to build off of through their CMS, was asked if I can do that part too and laughed because it’s my main thing. YUP and YUP. So they bought me out of my contract with an employment office and I worked there for 10 lovely years.
